Andra Roman | Typeface
Andra Roman is a humanist sans-serif I designed at Tipo Brda type workshop in Slovenia. It was drawn from scratch, digitised and spaced in 4 days. The influences for the type come from a letter sample dated around 1920 found in the Estonian History Museum and the original sketches included a historical Jugenstil-style uppercase, which was simplified into a more practical semi-grotesk. The early 20C aspects are retained in the sharp angles in the 'n' and 'a' of the lowercase, the flowing more-contrasted curves of the 'd'-'b'-'p'-'q', the eclectic numerals and in the supporting glyphs, most notably the ampersand '&' and question mark '?'.
